Local Attractions

The Vale of Avoca is unique as a centre for your East Coast holidays. With its deep river valleys and densely wooded hills, it exudes an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity, yet it is only an hour from Dublin, Europe's liveliest and most vibrant city, and an hour from the Ferry ports of Dun Laoghaire, Dublin and Rosslare. Fast ferries can whisk you from Holyhead and Fishguard to Ireland in 90 minutes. Dublin's international Airport receives regular flights direct from the USA, Canada and most major European cities. Regional airports throughout the UK also have regular flights to the capital.

Avoca offers a wide range of excellent accommodation, two established Hotels and a mixture of Farm Houses, Old Country Houses and Country Homes, all offering a warm and friendly Irish welcome. It boasts four traditional pubs, where good food and seasonal entertainment can be enjoyed.

Within the valley there is a choice of excellent restaurants and cosy tea rooms, and the busy seaport of Arklow just four miles away is fast becoming the gourmet capital of South Wicklow.

The Vale has one of Ireland's most beautiful golf courses at Woodenbridge. County Wicklow is internationally known as "The Garden of Ireland", because of its majestic mountains and lush wooded valleys.

It is also the home of Ardmore Film Studios in Bray. From here and locations within the mountains came such hits as Mel Gibson's "Braveheart", Liam Neeson's "Michael Collins ", Pierce Brosnan's "The Nephew", and now the hugely popular "Ballykissangel" actually made on location in Avoca Village.

Why not make Avoca the choice for your holiday and come and unwind in this lovely, friendly place.
